These volumes set LNCS 8421 and LNCS 8422 constitutes the refereed court cases of the nineteenth foreign convention on Database platforms for complicated purposes, DASFAA 2014, held in Bali, Indonesia, in April 2014. The sixty two revised complete papers awarded including 1 prolonged summary paper, four business papers, 6 demo displays, three tutorials and 1 panel paper have been conscientiously reviewed and chosen from a complete of 257 submissions. The papers conceal the next issues: substantial info administration, indexing and question processing, graph info administration, spatio-temporal information administration, database for rising undefined, info mining, probabilistic and unsure facts administration, internet and social info administration, safeguard, privateness and belief, key-phrase seek, info circulate administration and information quality.

Recently, trajectory retrieval has attracted a lot of interesting research [9–14] in this field. This paper differs with those proposed search algorithms in the following aspects: – The spatio-temporal points of the trajectories recorded by the mobile network are coarse-grained. The position in each point is presented as an ID of a cell, which is a land area to be supplied with radio service from one base station. The size of a cell is about hundreds of meters in the dense city zone. Furthermore, the temporal information of each point is not a exact timestamp, but a time interval when a mobile phone appears in the cell.

Fig. 4(b) shows that the ’Threaded Tree based’ algorithm outperform the ’Basic Algorithm’ obviously. This result reveals that the thread table adopted in the algorithm can effectively reduce the Query Time by pruning unnecessary search on the index tree. Moreover, compared with the ’Threaded Tree based’ algorithm, the ’Heuristics based’ algorithm can further reduce about half of the Query Time. This validates the effectiveness of the heuristics based query optimization. On the other hand, Fig. 4(b) also indicates that the ’Heuristics based’ algorithm can finish a query efficiently within one second and the time is not influenced by increasing the length of the surveillance trajectory to be matched.
