My original interest in going to college was to have a career in the biological sciences. It was what I thought I was good at. Unlike the other activities that I had become good at, such as martial arts, or being involved at church, I had no community or group support for trying to get into a big school or doing science (biology, chemistry). There were no opportunities to take risks without serious consequences and there were no institutions or individuals that were visible to me to provide access to the necessary resources.
We are born into culture and we are the creators of culture. – Learning and development, play, performance, creating culture and the “search for method” are all “tool and result” types of activities that are considered to be dialectical unities or totalities.
