Selmer (Paris) #51J - "Super Action 80, series II Jubilee" soprano, fixed neck, with hand engraved bell. Theobald Boehm wrote that the ideal size for a flute embouchure was "10.0 X 12.0, slightly square", so our flute does come very close to old Theobald's recommendations. Increasingly, through the proliferation of recorded music, examples of many different styles of clarinet playing have become available to developing clarinetists. Since the trumpets of this time had no valves or pistons, melodic passages would often require the use of the highest part of the trumpet's range, where the harmonics were close enough together to produce scales of adjacent notes as opposed to the gapped scales or arpeggios of the lower register.

Some saxes have the one & three forked Eb mechanism, some do not. We've been told that the "Gunckel" name was a trade-name or "Stencil" of the J. With instruments in so many different keys (meaning what note does it sound like if you play the instrument's C), it is helpful to have one place from which to start. Also she is usually asked by non-band members that see her carrying a sousaphone if "she is holding that for a friend." Since it was such a small thing, there was no charge, which I thought was really awesome.
